How to build nervous system resiliency from the inside. Lowering the stress response and giving the nervous system what it needs. From nutrition to nervous system regulation, applying these simple steps in your daily life will help you thrive (or at least not feel like you’re drowning)
Balancing Blood Sugar - 3 balanced meals per day
20g high-quality protein or more
1/2 plate veggies for fibre and nutrients
1/4 plate quality carbs and/or fats
Eating Breakfast within 60 minutes of waking
Lowering the stress response and setting your blood sugar for all day energy
Getting enough Stress Relief Nutrients
B Vitamins: Eggs, leafy greens, nutritional yeast, liver, lentils
Protein: Chicken, eggs, beef, cottage cheese, lentils, beans, fish
Zinc: Pumpkin seeds, beef, chickpeas, cashews, oysters
Vitamin C: Red bell peppers, kiwi, strawberries, broccoli, citrus fruits
Magnesium: Pumpkin seeds, spinach, almonds, dark chocolate, black beans (supplement: CanPrev Mg Bisglycinate is my favourite)
Completing your Stress Cycle
Release stress from the day and tell your brain, “I am safe now” so you can rest.
Ways to do this:
Walk
Exercise
Dance
Shake
Deep breaths
Squeeze muscles tight
Self Time
Go play and have fun! Joy and stress cannot coexist
Schedule in time each day and week
Regulating Your Nervous System with Breathwork
Use the Relaxation Breath: Nose, Belly, Exhale throughout the day
Do a deeper breathwork session 5+ minutes each day to regulate your nervous system, release stress, and increase your capacity to handle life events.
